Public Speaking Tip: Get “in the Zone”

by Lily Iatridis on February 5, 2010

Before delivering your presentation, be it a full speech to a large group, or a 30-second pitch to a single individual, it’s important to radiate positive energy.

The problem is we don’t always naturally feel that way, so here’s a technique to get you “in the zone” of feeling that uplift of positive energy which you’ll then communicate to your listeners.  Identify a memory of an experience or specific time in your life where you simply felt great, probably after some type of accomplishment or success you’ve had.  The next time you need to get into presentation mode quickly, refer to that memory on an intake of breath and let it’s associated positive energy wash over you.  Try it!
