Public Speaking: Short or Long on Time? Prepare!

by Lily Iatridis on February 5, 2010

Even when you’ve practiced extensively and have your timing down to the last minute, unexpected things happen that can cause you to run long or short on time during your presentation.  Always be prepared to eliminate or greatly shorten part of your presentation without disrupting its flow while leaving plenty of time at the end for your call to action.
Conversely, have several subtopics of additional relevant material prepared to share in case you have extra time.  Being extremely familiar with the timing of the various parts of your presentation is very helpful in this regard.  So remember, practice and prepare!
